STATUS UPDATES Whenever I find something intriguing or post something new – at least once daily but often I go on benders and post more than is healthy.

FOOD CELEBRITY FOLLOWS Penny De Los Santos @pennydelosantos, David Lebovitz @davidlebovitz, Jamie Oliver @jamieoliver.

COOK STATUS Culinary school trained, test kitchen honed

KNIFE STATUS So many knives it’s hard to keep track but at least one chef’s knife and one pairing knife are always sharp enough to cut a ripe peach but none are Ninja sharp.

COOKBOOK STATUS Quite a few hundred – it is possibly my most unsustainable habit aside from magazine reading.

RESTAURANT REGULAR STATUS Nopalito, Alembic, Bar Jules

LATEST GREATEST MEAL My sister’s birthday dinner at Red Medicine in LA was outstanding not only because the food there is exceptional but because they fed 20 of us without one single flaw. If we’re talking SF, then it’s Benu — I’m still dreaming of my birthday dinner from last year.

MORNING STATUS? Pour over until it flows over – usually with Sightglass, Victrola, or Handsome Roasters beans.

FOOD MAGAZINE STATUS? Though I’m ever more online I still have a lot of subscriptions and do a monthly trip to the newsstand for international mags. Subscriptions to Food & Wine, New York Mag, Saveur, Donna Hay, and Jamie. And I regularly buy Lucky Peach, Gourmet Traveller, Whole Living, Regal (France), and pick up an Edible edition in whichever city I’m frequenting.

Aida’s first cookbook, Keys To The Kitchen, will be released via Chronicle Books October 24th, 2012. More info here: Keys to the Kitchen Cookbook.
